Shell NZ Case Study

Background

Shell New Zealand has been helping to meet the energy demands of New Zealanders for nearly 100 years. They aim to do it in an economically, environmentally friendly and socially way.

Shell is best known to the New Zealand public for its service stations, but they also play a role in finding and producing oil and gas on land and at sea, as well as getting involved with supporting local communities. They employ more than 300 staff, and through exploration and production, retail, distribution and commercial activities, more than 4,000 people help them in delivering value to their customers.

Opportunity

In June 2008 Shell launched Shell V-Power, a high quality performance fuel developed specifically for the New Zealand market, at a time when petrol prices were at a record high. To support this launch, it was decided to dress all service station staff nationally in uniforms that reflected this new brand and the marketing supporting it. Apparel and Merchandising Solutions Ltd was required to work to a challenging deadline, despite delays in getting sign off from the client.

Solution

In conjunction with Shell, Apparel and Merchandising Solutions Ltd coordinated the garment manufacture off shore and in New Zealand to exacting standards. The project included the use of the Ferrari and Shell international logos which required great care to facilitate correctly.

We were required to distribute to 240 points nationwide managing all aspects of logistics to an almost impossible deadline.

On the strength of the 2008 success, Apparel and Merchandising Solutions Ltd continues to manufacture and supply V-Power branded merchandise to Shell New Zealand.
