Meridian Case Study

Background

Meridian is the largest state-owned electricity generator in New Zealand. The company takes its responsibilities to New Zealand and to the environment very seriously. It owns, operates and generates electricity from hydro stations in the South Island; has wind farms near Palmerston North, Wellington and Mossburn (Southland), on Ross Island (Antarctica); and a solar farm in California.

Meridian has staff at three main offices (Wellington, Christchurch and Twizel ), at the various generation sites and in project teams working in the field, often in exposed and challenging surroundings.

Opportunity

Meridian established a procurement team to find a provider to supply branded clothing to suit a wider variety of needs and offer it through an e-procurement 'one stop shop'.

Staff in Meridian's main offices then voted for their preferred range.

Solution

AMS sourced, developed and co-ordinated a range of garments which included business shirts, merino knitwear and substantial jackets. We demonstrated capability to meet Meridian's requirements to accept credit card payment as well as purchase order where required as the basis for consolidated invoicing.

More than that, we took time to understand Meridian's company intentions, which are sincerely embraced by staff. We demonstrated our own commitment to reaching carboNZero certification and sourced and included as many New Zealand made items as possible.

We continue to supply and dispatch items as Meridian staff order them, through a tailored ordering system accessed as required.
